Northern Ontario Black Economic Empowerment Program Launches

Last week on July 20th, the Northern Ontario Black Economic Empowerment Program (NOBEEP) was launched to service communities in the north, including those in the ELNOS region. NOBEEP is a Canadian government-funded development initiative created to support Black entrepreneurs and business owners. Their mission is to address the gaps in the Northern Ontario entrepreneurship ecosystem for Black-led businesses. NOBEEP is managed by the Afro-Heritage Association of Sudbury and partnered with FEDNOR and BIPOC Foundation.

The grand opening event for NOBEEP was live streamed and is available to watch on their website. Visit nobeep.ca to see a description of their services and introductions to their administration and governance. All NOBEEP clients will undergo a business assessment to determine their capacity and capability in areas such as business planning, funding, legal, taxes, and mentorship.

There are five different ways to become a member with NOBEEP: volunteer, member, client, sponsor, and partner. It is free to join as a volunteer, client, or confidential mentor. Those that want to provide financial support can become corporate or individual sponsors. Partners provide support by establishing working relationships with NOBEEP. Congratulations to NOBEEP on their launch!
